I'm a sucker for inspirational quotes. Always have been.
As a teenage girl, hunting for these quotes was a key hobby-
I would lock up our family phone line for hours as I researched the internet for quotes
(back in the day of-gasp!-dial-up internet).
I'd scribble the worthy quotes on notepad paper and throw them in my room,
picking them up now and then when I was in need of a little inspiration
(or an MSN Messenger status..don't judge, you did it too).
Times have changed-
I now have wi-fi, an iPhone, and constant access to Pinterest to feed my addiction.
Inspiration is at my fingertips all day, every day.
Almost too much inspiration. Overwhelming inspiration. Conflicting inspiration.
One second, I'm all in on a quote telling me to let go. The next second, I'm inspired by some quote that wants me to hold on.
Damn confusing don't you think.
Can't all these inspirational quotes people get together and send me only one message?
Don't they consult?!
A girl can only handle so much inspiration before she breaks
(And by break, I mean miss meetings because I'm busy on Pinterest..)
In an effort to avoid my breaking point, I've capped my inspirational quote limit at one a day.
For no particular reason except that one sounds good and is easy,
like a one-a-day Flintstones vitamin, and everyone knows Flintstones vitamins kick ass.
I let the one-a-day be the lone mantra in my mind throughout the day, with no outside noise from other quotes sneaking in.
Makes life simpler. Gives inspiration a chance to actually do its job.
My sources and topics are varied-
books, movies, speeches, commentary in the news, random homeless men muttering life lessons on the subway, travel, love, dreams, dogs..
the list could go on and on.
Some are credible, some aren't.
Some are well-respected. Most aren't.
But, fuck it. This is my inspiration. If you don't like where its from, go find your own.
If you do trust my judgment though, consider Monday's one-a-day inspiration:

And don't forget your Flintstones vitamin.
